Vote on the best fantasy romance anime you would recommend to others.

From classics like Spice and Wolf to newer series like The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent, fans have a wide variety of options when it comes to picking a good fantasy romance anime. For that reason let's define exactly what qualifies as fantasy romance anime, and rank the very best series anime fans can't afford to miss.

How do you know if a series can be considered a fantasy romance anime? The first clue is usually the setting. Many of the anime on this list are high fantasy series that take place in alternate worlds filled with ancient castles, powerful knights, and vast empires ruled by cruel kings. Snow White with the Red Hair for example is set in a fictional nation called Clarines, which makes it a great candidate if you're looking for a medieval romance anime. Another way to know if an anime should be classified as romance fantasy is the presence of magical powers or entities. Some series we recommend, like The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, take place in an altered version of Japan, where characters have special abilities and things like yokai exist.

As for how to know whether it's one of the best fantasy romance anime, that comes down to how well the fantasy and romantic storytelling combine and how those themes shine on their own. Each one of the anime on this list does just that and then some. Make sure to vote for the fantasy romance anime that you think is the best!

She knows exactly how this new life of hers is supposed to go - in the book, Raeliana is killed by her fiancé, and the tragedy plays a key role in the original plot of the story.

Raeliana decides she doesn't want to face death again and instead uses her knowledge of the characters to her advantage. What was supposed to be another unfortunate chapter in her life proves to be a blissful and happy marriage.

Why It's Great:  Honestly, My Happy Marriage is already good without the fantasy elements. Premise: Shirayuki is dedicated to her job as an herbalist, so when the Prince of Tamburan insists that she becomes his concubine, she tries desperately to escape the country. Luckily, she's rescued by the second Prince of Clarines, Zen Wistalia. After the rescue, Shirayaki ends up moving into Zen's palace and working as an herbalist. Though the two clearly have feelings for one another, Shirayuki wants to prove her worth and not look like she's seeking status, and Zen has to deal with the disapproval of the court. Is their love strong enough to deal with these challenges?

Why It's Great: Sick of waiting forever for the love interests to get together? That's not an issue with this series. Can the two possibly get along - or maybe even move past tolerating each other to something more?

Why It's Great: Aside from being a cult classic for many people, Kamisama Kiss shines because of the charming dynamic between Nanami and the initially gruff Tomoe. Yona of the Dawn

    Premiered: 2014

Premise: As a young girl, Princess Yona of Koka thought that life in her kingdom was perfect. This is quickly proven untrue when her beloved older cousin Su-won assassinates her father, plunging Yona's whole world into chaos. She escapes with help from her childhood friend and bodyguard Son Hak. At first, her life is devoted solely to survival, but as she learns more about what life was like for the people of Kouka under her father's rule, she starts thinking about how to become the leader her nation truly deserves.

Why It's Great: If you want a great romance with intriguing fantastical elements that aren't too overwhelming, you have to check out Yona of the Dawn. Fantasy is incorporated by using a plot of four historical "dragons" meant to assist Yona in her journey. Not only are they introduced well, but they are all interesting characters on their own and their presence doesn't flush out the romantic storyline.
